Sigma Delta Phi ("Sphinx") Fraternity

The men of Sigma Delta Phi were founded under the nickname "Sphinx", which they are still known as today. Originally founded in 1919, their colors are kelly green and white, and their motto is "Truth to Us, Above All."  The men make it a point to be some of the most active members of Otterbein's community in and outside of Greek life. Sphinxmen pride themselves on their tight-knit brotherhood and their strong foundation of community service, including participation in service projects for groups such as The Columbus AIDS Walk, Save Darfur, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, W.A.R.M. (Westerville Area Resource Ministry), Otterbein Community Garden, and many others. The fraternity has also won Chapter of the year for 5 of the past 7 years as well as receiving "Outstanding Contributions to the Otterbein Community" for four consecutive years. The men in the fraternity have also had the highest fraternity GPA consistently for the past several years.  The Sphinx Fraternity encourages young men of all backgrounds to explore the brotherhood and diversity that is not available in all organizations. Members are free to be themselves without question or reservation. This acceptance is what makes Sphinx appealing to a wide diversity of men at Otterbein.
